Spectrobes: Origins - Nintendo Wii (Video Game) newly tagged "wii"

An action/adventure game mixing real-time battles, science fiction and monster collection, Spectrobes: Origins brings the successful series known from its previous DS releases to the Wii for the first time. Packed with an exciting new story that reveals secrets from the franchises past, three-dimensional graphics, unique Wii controls and all new gameplay features--including co-op gameplay--Spectrobes: Origins challenges players to prevent a galactic threat by utilizing speed, strategy and of course, Spectrobes.

'Spectrobes: Origins' game logo
Story
As with earlier games in the Spectrobes series, Spectrobes: Origins follows the adventures of Rallen and Jeena. Officers in the futuristic Nanairo Planetary Patrol, Rallen and Jeena are the vanguard of the solar system's defenses against enemies, including the alien scourge known as the Krawl. To combat these menaces they have, and must continue to harness the power of the mysterious creatures known as Spectrobes.

What is a Spectrobe?
Spectrobes are ancient beings of light that have existed since the beginnings of the galaxy. In fact, they are so ancient that most, although alive, now exist suspended in a fossilized state. Aside from the fact that Spectrobes are large and imposing, the essence of their power resides in their orientation to one of five elemental properties: fire, plant, earth, sky or water. These properties are not all created equal though, instead having particular exploitable strengths when pitted against other forces; for example, fire is strong against plant, water is strong when used against fire, plant is strong against earth, sky is strong against water, etc.

Gameplay
Gameplay in Spectrobes: Origins centers around the player's ability to successfully utilize and fight along side their stable of collected Spectrobes in battle against a variety of enemies. Unlike earlier Spectrobes games, Spectrobes: Origins is designed around real-time battles. Both the player's character and their current Spectrobe simultaneously engage enemies in combat utilizing standard attacks, as well as combos to gain experience points. The game features more than a hundred different Spectrobes and players are able to carry several at any one time, as well as various character armaments. Each Spectrobe has its own set of distinct attributes, which underlines the importance of developing a strategy for their use in advance, depending on what challenges and different opponents you think you might face. But before a player can plan for this he/she must build a collection of Spectrobes. This is done, as was in previous games by excavating the fossilized creatures. In Origins though this is taken to a whole different level via the Wii's motion sensing capabilities and a time based mini-game. Once players have identified an area containing a Spectrobe they will utilize the Wii remote and nunchuck configuration to put a wide range of tools to work in removing it from the ground. These tools include everything from bombs to hammers, lasers and blowdryers. The game features 3D imaging, so during this process players will see their Spectrobes realistically emerge bit by bit from the the raw earth, and after full excavation will nurture them up close as they heal from any injuries that may have suffered during the digging and take on nourishment in an area called "the incubator." Here players can also bond with and get to know the powers of each Spectrobes before they join the fight.

Another difference from earlier releases in the series is the expansion of the Jeena character. Previously occupying more of a support role to Rallen, with specialties in the the fields of communication, research and problem-solving, in this adventure Jeena is a full-fledged playable character, able to team up with Spectrobes against enemies in battle. She also has entirely different personality traits and sensibilities than Rallen, ensuring diverse gameplay and an even male/female balance characterwise. Both Rallen and Jeena are available in the games' co-op mode which allows an additional player to join the fight in the role of the selected Spectrobe.

Key Game Features For the first time in Spectrobes franchise history battle as either Rallen or Jeena and master each hero's skills.Awaken, train and command over 100 different types of Spectrobes.Innovative design with never seen before 3D Spectrobe excavation system.Locate and unearth hidden items with the help of your Spectrobes.Hone the skills of your adult and evolved form Spectrobes and battle enemies in real-time combat.Play both in single player mode as Rallen or Jeena, or in co-op mode where a friend joins you playing as the Spectrobe of choice.

Wii Action Replay with 1gb Gaming Grade Sd Card (Video Game) newly tagged "wii"

A couple of reviews on here say this item is hard to use, is sub-standard or doesn’t work. It’s a hack device...if hacking a system were easy, everyone would do it. This hacking device requires minimal setup which is all in the manual. And if you get stuck, search on Youtube for a setup video. “JayFNG” of Datel has a step-by-step video on his channel.

The best part of this device is that it produces a temporary softmod on your Wii using the Letterbomb exploit to run code. When you exit a game using a code, your system returns to an unmodded state. Pretty brilliant actually. This is a great solution if you don’t want to permanently softmod your Wii for cheat code use.

The codes are run by an XML file that you upload to the SD Card which Datel provides. This XML file can be modified to add your own codes. The possibilities are endless for game cheats if you take a little time to search out or write your own codes.

And if the above hasn’t sold you on this, now you can finally play Manhunt 2 in it’s full brutal uncensored glory. Codejunkies (Datel) will not provide you with this code if you inquire about it, probably won’t even respond to your email, so dump the following code into your XML file and get ready to play Manhunt 2 the way it was intended. If anything, this device sells itself on this code alone.

Manhunt 2 (US)
Uncensored Killing Fun

Overall, if you’re a person with zero experience with hacking, this may be a cumbersome task to get up and running. But if this isn’t the first time you’ve used a flash cart or cheating device, this should be fairly simple.

I give it 5 stars all day.

Nintendo Wii Console, White (NEWEST MODEL) (Video Game) newly tagged "wii"

And discovered that those fine folks at Nintendo decided in their infinite wisdom to save 50 cents on some parts and eliminated the Gamecube ports on the top of the unit. Why should you care - you probably never had a Nintendo Gamecube and don't have any old Gamecube controllers, right? Well, maybe you've got a spouse or kids (or yourself, even) who happens to like to get down and boogie in front of your TV playing one of the dance mat games, such as Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)? It's terrific fun and great exercise, right? Well, guess how the DDR dance mats are connected to a Wii? That's right, with Gamecube port cables. So if you finally want to get around to getting a Wii and buy those cool dancing games your friends have or if your Wii died on you and you're looking to buy a replacement, you are SOL if you expect to use a DDR dance mat on your new Wii, as there is no sliding cover on top and no ports underneath into which one could plug the dance mat cables. I called to Nintendo and asked if there are any current model Wii consoles that have the Gamecube ports and was told that since 2011, no Wii units have come with those ports.

Well, my daughter and her friends love the DDR games, so this new unit got returned as Nintendo's tight-fisted bean counters took a good third of the console's functionality away, at least for our family, to save what surely must have been under a buck per unit. It really bugs me when corporate greed and avarice ruin formerly great products, so I deducted 3 full stars from my rating. If you don't think you'd ever play one of the DDR games or otherwise have a use for the Gamecube ports, then add 3 stars back onto the rating.

If you are looking for a new/old Wii with Gamecube ports, my first recommendation is that if you have an old one that died on you, contact Nintendo tech support about sending it in for repairs. That is probably now the most cost-effective means of resuming using your Wii with the DDR games. The cheapest alternative is to look for a returned, used unit on Cowboom, which is an affiliate of Best Buy that liquidates returned merchandise; they currently have dozens of old-model Wiis for sale. Look in the listings for white-colored Wiis and skim through their available inventory, looking for units that have a photo showing the top cover raised with the Gamecube ports underneath. Beware that many of their units are missing many, if not most, of the normally included accessories, so I'd read through a lot of their individual console listings to find one that comes with a remote and Nunchuk, Wii Sports, sensor bar, silicone cover, handstrap, console stand, etc... Since the ones with full accessories are only a few bucks more than the stripped down ones, it makes sense to go with one that has spare parts, particularly the remotes and Nunchuks that you'd probably want to buy separately anyway. As a final alternative, try eBay, but be sure to ask the seller before hand, if it is not perfectly clear from the auction listing and photos, whether the unit has Gamecube ports. Good luck.

Zumba Fitness Core - Nintendo Wii (Video Game) newly tagged "wii"

The first thing I tried were the tutorials, which aim to teach you some of the basic steps you'll use throughout your workouts. One reason why Zumba in general is so popular is you're doing what look like pretty elaborate dance routines, but at their core (no pun intended) are basic classic dance steps that you learn and find yourself using over and over. In this case, you'll learn four basic steps for Salsa, Merengue, Samba, Bollywood, Reggaeton, and Cumbia respectively. Mastering these 24 basic steps will serve you well as you play the game. The tutorial is done very well--you start off by watching Beto break down the steps in slow motion, and once you get those steps down you can see and try them at actual speed. I like how when you view the dance steps at full speed, the animated Beto will throw in flourishes that take the dance step beyond the mechanical and show you how to put some artistry into them.

One of the key things I look for in any Wii game is how good the motion detection is. In the first version of Zumba Fitness this was not good at all. The second version improved it. I think it's safe to say that this third version is probably as good as it's going to get on the Wii's technology. I tried to deliberately "fake" the system out by sitting on the couch and waving the Wii remote in my hand, but the game would have none of it. It was only when I stood up and danced with the Wii remote strapped to my waist that I started getting points.

Having said that, the game is pretty lenient with scoring. When I danced to the same song on the Xbox version and the Wii version, the Xbox version gave me 3 stars out of 5 vs. the Wii version which gave me 4s and even 5s out of the gate. As much as I'd love to think I'm a dancing machine, I think it's more a reflection of the Wii's not being able to detect certain kinds of movements as well as the Kinect, such as intricate foot movements or any kind of arm movements, and so none of those things are reflected in the Wii's scoring. At the end of the day, all it can really do is judge where your hips are at any given point, and assume that if it's in the right place the rest of your body must be too. So while it's still pretty accurate (you still need to dance a pretty spot-on performance to get 5 stars), for a lot of things you're pretty much on the "honor system" to do them right. Incidentally, while the Xbox excels at accurate tracking, the Wii version does have something that the Xbox version doesn't do and probably will never do: allow for 4-person simultaneous play.

There are 33 songs to play, 17 of which are licensed tracks from artists such as Carlinhos Brown, Enrique Iglesias, Sean Paul, Kat DeLuna, and Karmin. They span a huge number of genres from African to Bollywood to Polynesian Rhythm to Reggae to the more traditional Latin dance moves such as salsa and samba. The songs range from low intensity to high intensity (where some of them will literally have you grasping for breath if you're not in shape).

The graphics were improved with Zumba Fitness 2 and this version improves on them even more. You can choose from eight venues to dance in, such as a nightclub scene to an amphitheater to exotic locations such as Las Vegas and Hawaii. Each song is presented by a different Zumba personality, such as Kass Martin, Tanya Beardsley, Nick Logrea, Loretta Bates, Gina Grant, and Beto. As with the previous games, you mirror the moves of your onscreen trainer as precisely as you can.

You can play virtual Zumba classes, which basically string together a number of individual songs for short classes (about 20 minutes), mid-length classes (about 45 minutes) and full-length classes (about an hour). One thing new to this version is that as with real Zumba classes, you start off and end your sessions with lower intensity songs to properly warm up and cool down respectively.

There are a lot of great features of the game which inspire you to play over and over again, something you need to do in order to see your workouts result in weight loss and better health. The Progress Tracker is much improved in that you can visually see graphs of your score, time played, accuracy, and calories burned by day, week, or month; it's definitely a good feeling and pretty good motivation to see those graphs filling up. There's also a lot of a great unlockable video content and achievements that'll incentivize you to keep working out.

Zumba Fitness Core doesn't quite take the place of a real Zumba class; there's only so much technique you can learn from a two-dimensional video game, and of course you don't get the social component of taking classes with a real instructor and a real class. Having said that, it's a great introduction for those new to Zumba, and it's also great to use if circumstances (e.g., the weather, your work schedule, your wallet, etc.) don't allow you to take as many real classes as you'd like. While Zumba exercise is not for everyone, if it's for you, I think you're going to enjoy this game.
